Habitat
for Humanity
We are trying to see if we have enough interest to help with a
Habitat for Humanity project. I assume most of you are familiar with Habitat
and their efforts to provide low cost housing through volunteer labor. We would
be looking for volunteers to work a block of hours on a Saturday probably in
September. This would involved going to the location where the home is being
built and providing whatever manual labor we were able to do.
Other options might involve donations of items from the "Habitat
Wish List" if you are interested e-mail me. Robert S. Shank - Comunity Service

Susquehanna Valley Visits Gettysburg School
Bev spoke to the first class on what to expect to be taken from
your paycheck each pay and the forms that Human Resources with give you to fill
out upon starting work. We spoke about garnishments and pretax deductions. The
big question for this class was Domestic Relations. How it worked and how you
go about applying for it. The second and third classes Martha took over. Again
she addressed the same issues that we talked about in the first class. This
time the big questions were on 401K investing. This class seemed very
interested in the ins and outs of investing. The last class that Martha spoke
to seemed most interested in tip wage. The wanted to know how it worked, how
they would know it they were being paid properly.

Children's Center Receives Model Train Set
The Susquehanna Valley Chapter decided to begin their 2004
Community Service Projects in a unique way. Seven members of the chapter met in
mid December to plan a model train set that would be donated to a children’s
center, yet to be determined. Heide Daugherty chaired the project.
